The next major event

The next major event for me is a half-ironman triathlon in Canberra on 16 December 2007. I have no problem running a half marathon or swimming 2km, but I've still got a long way to go to get set for riding 90km (and being able to run afterwards). I really cut back the riding while marathon training and I was never that much of a rider in the first place, so I've got a lot of work to do over the next few months.

The goal is to get riding twice a week before work, one long ride on the weekends and hopefully also a turbo session one night in the week. So far I've only managed one morning ride and one weekend ride - around 130km a week total. Ideally within a couple of months I'd like to build up to over 200km per week on the bike to really get comfortable with it.

This training program has been a bugger to try to organise to fit in full time work and anything of a life, but I'm getting there. I was all set to go for a swim at lunch today, but couldn't summon up the will. I need to get a good plan together - if it's all written down at least I know I can stick to it.
