It's been a good start to the week.
After the Olympic Triathlon Sunday I had planned to do some yoga Monday morning, but got to bed kind of late and thought I'd be better off having a decent sleep than pushing it so just stayed in bed til 7. No chance of getting away from work for a swim either which meant I felt kind of blah from not doing any exercise but I could have probably used a full rest day anyway.
Tuesday morning I felt great, had a good hard yoga session which wasn't painful at all - a surprise considering it had been almost 2 weeks since my last yoga class. Then pain in the domain at lunch which was also a good workout and my legs didn't feel tired at all considering I'd had a fairly hefty weekend of exercise. Most of the fast guys were doing 400m sprints at Rushcutters Bay so only me and Enda fronted up for group 1. We added on group 2 and Enda and I led the thing, it was hot and we kept a good pace - slightly slower than group 1 but probably a bit fast for group 2.
I think I recovered well from the weekend because I paid very close attention to my nutrition and hydration. I drank tonnes of water all day, and made sure to eat plenty of carbs and some protein right after both sessions (peanut butter and banana sandwiches with a recovery bar), followed by a proper meal within an hour and continuously sipping water in the car.
This morning I was hoping to do a sort of triathlon - pool session, then an hour on the turbo doing hard intervals, then running to work. The pool was great, I did a solid 2.5km session which felt very strong. Got home and jumped on the turbo trainer, but never really got into it on the bike.
I was running late back from the pool so only had 40 minutes (instead of an hour) which was on my mind, then got distracted by the cats, then Sarah woke up and I was talking to her, then my ipod shuffle started screwing up which annoyed the hell out of me. Then I started doing one-legged drills and I FELL OFF! Seriously, somehow the bike worked loose and down I went onto the carpet. Am I the only person in history to have fallen off a stationary bike??? Great co-ordination.
Anyway I just spun aerobically for half an hour then threw in the towel, no hard intervals or drills. I shambled into work afterwards. I need to get my act together with the bike training, seriously.
