Mont 24 hour Mtn Bike race

I had an outstanding weekend just passed. Saturday morning did a hard Brick session in Centennial Park, then rode home and hung out with Sarah before going to my friend Nat's house after lunch to hang out with her and her 2 week old bub!

Then it was 3 hours in the car down to Canberra in preparation for the Sri Chinmoy "Classic" Olympic distance triathlon on Sunday.

I arrived in the 'bez about 5.30 and went straight out to Mt Majura to meet up with Dave as well as catch up with Marty, Jeanelle and Brad who were competing in the 24 hour mountain bike race on there. The atmosphere was very cool - it was kind of like an overnight music festival with people camped out everywhere and hanging around under shade structures fiddling with bikes and cooking and eating. There was so much in the way of fun bike stuff around to look at, plus food tents, manufacturer's tents and even a band playing near the transition area.

Transition

I went up into the forest and found Dave and we watched for a while the riders zooming through some pretty serious single track.

The idea is that you go in teams of 4 or 6 and ride as many laps as you can fit in as a team over 24 hours, with only one team member on the course at any time. The team who completes the highest number of laps wins.
