War zone
Many were asking why, as we surveyed the scene at the end of the race at Dee Why on Feb 17. It was more like a war zone with people lying on the ground and being treated by paramedics. The blueys certainly won.

I thought the DY2K would be an enjoyable 6th swim. How wrong I was- I got smashed by waves and then Blueys.I thought I was in a bad way with one on my left ear and all down my neck, plus another one from my outside-right shin up to my inner thigh. Then I saw some of the others - a girl had one on the lip and her tongue started to swell. A guy named Diego had them all over his legs and went into a delayed shock. People were in shock, crying.

Bugger me, that's some hefty action. DY is my local but I rarely go there because of the bluey trouble - something to do with prevailing winds and currents that seems to always bring them there. Sounds like you were lucky to avoid them
