Taking 'er easy

Knackered yesterday.

My alarm went at 5am and I had no intention of getting up.

In fact I slept for another 2 hours and even found it difficult to drag myself out at the very last minute in order to get to work on time.

At lunch I really didn't feel like going for a run, but I know that I just have to go and I'll feel better once I start, so off I went to join the HuRTS boys for 7 x 950m along Farm Cove.

I had in mind 3 things:
1) I'm still clearly recovering from the marathon and didn't want to injure myself
2) I was feeling weak and unwilling to run
3) I want to have a good run on Saturday at the Striders 10km at Homebush so I wanted to take it a bit easy and save myself.

But I ended up taking it even easier than I thought. I did 4 reps only, and stopped at about 800m because that felt like long enough. Usually the first one is hard, then I get into a rhythm, but the rhythm never came and on the last one I felt like I'm had enough. No problem with the lungs or the legs (although they felt a bit heavy), just an overall uneasiness.

Greg and Steve who I'd been running with both decided to pull the plug after four as well and we ran back to work together.

I was up for yoga this morning, but had a last minute change of heart and went back to bed. I think that I'm allowed one lazy month a year and this is it!

Part of it is looking at my racing schedule and there's something on every single weekend throughout the winter, then it just picks up even further come triathlon season in the spring. So I figure it's worth me taking it easy now, both in order to fully recover from the marathon and in order to prepare my body for the hard few months ahead.

Good justification right? Hey second vegan day today. So far so good. Homemade Thai green curry last night which unfortunately was so spicy we could barely eat it! Will try to have another go at it at lunchtime. No physical exertion today, saving it for the 10km run tomorrow.
