It's been a long time since I've dont a long ride on my own and I was half dreading it and half really keen. Once I got going though, I really got into it, got inside my own head and just enjoyed the peacefulness of a grey morning riding through the national park with almost no traffic (car or bike). I thought, "Well I'll just start riding a couple of kms towards West Head"... then I thought "Well I'm this far i might as well just roll to the end". Then Akuna Bay and back through Frenchs Forest for 105km total. All on my lonesome and I loved it!
Here's a shot to prove I went to West Head.

On Friday I was riding with the Boundary Riders and one of the blokes said "You really should get some new tyres there". When I looked at my back trye it was a mess of bald spots with wide open expanses where the rubber had completely worn away and there were wide patches of the fibre underneath. I don't know how it hadn't flatted. Those Continental Gatorskins really did the trick, I had them for about a year without a flat at all! So I went to the bike shop at lunch and picked up a new set of tyres - Schwalbe Stelvios. They seemed to do the trick on the long ride Sunday, lets see how they go.
