Almost at recovery day....

It was another great weekend of workouts, I was very happy with it. Thankfully I managed to fit in a 25km run late on Sunday arvo over to Taronga Zoo along the waterfront and back which was glorious and I managed to do it in 2:20 which – when you take out all the sets of stairs – works out around 5:30min/km pace which I was happy with considering I managed to keep the heart rate around 75% of max (140bpm).

Monday the old legs were kind of knackered, as could be expected, so I took it a bit easy and did a 2.5km swim which consisted of a warm up and 10x 200m repeats, sprinting the first 50m and going slower but solid for the rest of the repeat. It felt great.

I forgot I had volunteering at Darlinghurst Legal Centre last night so I did the run home from there at almost 9pm which was a very slow and sorry 6km or so of recovery shuffling…

The legs were hurting pretty bad when I woke up this morning, but I felt ok and thought I could have a rest day tomorrow, so I pounded out an hour on the bike turbo trainer and then ran to work and I have to say the legs felt fine afterwards! Then did Pain in the Domain at lunch which wasn’t as much of a struggle as I thought it would be. It’s never easy of course - those Group 1 guys at the moment are ridiculously fast and it takes everything I’ve got just to keep in touch with the group!

Anyway my legs are feeling pretty good now as I consider the recovery jog home. But still, I think taking tomorrow off the legs altogether would be a wise move – just some yoga at home in the morning would be a good move.
