The legs are feeling a lot better after Bay in a Day. To be honest they were never really that sore, but I had a feeling that getting back on the bike would be a struggle, but this morning Dan and I went for a little pedal around Mosman to see how it felt. We didn't push it, but it was fine.
I was hoping to see Dan's new bike - he bought a Specialised tri bike on eBay with a disc back wheel and aero bars with bar-end shifters and an aero helmet. It arrived in the mail yesterday, but unfortunately due to a couple of parts being dislodged in the mail, he wasn't able to put it back together in time for a ride this morning.
I did get to try out my new aerobars for the first time though, which was cool. I used to have a pair of Syntace C2 aerobars (2nd hand from eBay of course) which were awesome except for the fact that they were a large size so when my forearms were on the pads I couldn't reach the handholds! They were all one piece, so I bought some fully adjustable profile design carbon stryke bars (guess where) which arrived 6 weeks ago, but without the velcro to attach the pads, or the shims necessary to attach the bars to standard 26mm handlebars (which I have). So they've been sitting on my floor for almost 2 months while I was in a dispute with the seller until he finally arranged to have the missing parts shipped to me a few days ago.
Anyway I gave them a go this morning and they felt quite good, although since every single part of them is adjustable it's tough to know exactly how to set them up! That's probably the only practice I'll get on them before the triathlon in Canberra this weekend. It was a grey and drizzly morning but that meant we were virtually the only cyclists on the road which was kind of cool. I'm writing this in the middle of a crazy lightening storm and pouring rain so thank god we only get a few drops this morning.
