Oooo yeah I just wanted to check yesterday to make sure I really am overtrained and need some recovery. Yep, that is definitely the case!
Went to Pain in the Domain at lunch and had a good session, but was a bit knackered afterwards and the old legs definitely felt like dropping off. I got to bed nice and early but at the sound of the 5am alarm I had to carefully consider my options:
Long run? Absolutely no chance.
Bike ride? Nah, legs complaining.
Swim? Mmmm, not in the mood.
Yoga? Yeah I could give it a go...
So I got up, got dressed for yoga and headed towards the door. Then I stopped and did a quick mental scan of my body and feelings. Decided that at this point 2 hours of extra sleep would be much more valuable (I still haven't caught up from 4 hours sleep on Saturday night and about 5 hours Sunday night). Zzzzzzzz.
Big recovery day today. In fact I'm actually really looking forward to taking it easy today and Friday, then going a bit harder on the weekend before taking the next two weeks to taper for Canberra. Mmmmm precious taper.
