Well I am very happy with the last three solid days of running.
For some reason I had an awful time getting to sleep last night and was really restless and disturbed when I finally did, so my plans to do Boundary Riders this morning were scuttled and I stayed in bed for an extra 2 hours instead.
The key for today was a solid lunchtime run and the HuRTS boys had in mind a fairly brutal 14 x 3 mins on, 1 min rest. It's normally a 12 rep session, but Tom decided to add a couple so we ended up with a 56 minute session (42 minutes hard).
It was supposed to be at half marathon pace, but not only had I not brought my footpod, but somehow my HR monitor strap had fallen out of my bag (hopefully it's just at home), so I had no idea of either HR or pace and had to just go on feel. Of course the boys were all so far ahead we may as well have been doing separate sessions, but I stuck with Greg who clocked the first few at about 4 minute pace on his garmin and I tried to go on feel and keep the same pace through the whole session. Judging by the start and finish points for the 3 minute efforts, I managed to maintain a fairly consistent pace which would have been around 4 min kms or slightly under.
Incredibly I still felt good at the end and MY LEGS STILL AREN'T SORE. I can't believe it, it's like the opposite of last week where they were consistently heavy and sore, this week no matter how I punish them they just keep lapping it up and feeling good. I'm getting excited for Canberra...
