400m & runners high

Well I was lazy this morning, but I have an excuse! The cats woke me up so mny times between 3 and 5am that by the time 5am rolled around I wasn't going anywhere but back to sleep. I would have liked to have gone for a ride or a swim, but "eh".

The run at lunch today was awesome though. It was back to Rushcutters Bay oval for 12 x 400m and there was a big crowd. It just felt really good, I managed to complete the whole session and to hold a pretty consistent pace. Thanks to Steve for firing up and taking off like a shot on one of the later reps, chasing him really kept me honest!

I just felt good and strong for the whole session which I hope means I'm fully recovered from the Canberra Marathon and ready to fire up for a fast 10km at North Head next month.

Then all afternoon at work I had runners high! I'm still in a good mood at 9pm.

Splits (400m time and av HR):
1.20 - 154
1.16 - 159
1.17 - 163
1.15 - 168
1.19 - 166
1.20 - 168
1.22 - 169
1.22 - 169
1.21 - 171
1.16 - 172
1.21 - 172
1.18 - 171

I also received a bunch of bike stuff I'd ordered in the mail today. New cycling glasses with actual UV protection polarised lenses (the old ones are cheap pieces of crap, all the lenses are scratched to hell and the nose pieces have fallen off and all the paint is flaking off the frame!)

Also a pair of eggbeater pedals for the mountain bike, plus leg warmers and full finger gloves for those chilly winter mornings. Runners high PLUS retail therapy!
