Weekend long(ish) stuff

An easy weekend, but the start of a good build up of longer endurance stuff.

On Saturday I wanted a longer run, but not too long because I want to be pretty fresh for the SMH half marathon next weekend. I thought 1.5 hours would be good so asked Andrew if he was keen. He was, as was Kathryn so the thre of us met up at Fitness First Mosman and ran from there along the waterfront on a gloriously crisp autumn morning. There were three other people there who Kathryn was chatting to when Andrew and I arrived (Anne-Marie, Heather and Marcus) so we told them to come along too, then we ran into a Canadian bloke on the track who is here for World Youth Day and he joined in too so from a solo run, suddenly I was with a group of seven! Great fun, had some good chats and the time flew.

Sunday was bike time, so Marty, Dave, James, Andrew and a friend of Marty's called Shane all came out for a quick roll up to McCarrs Creek and back. Andrew and I managed to talk Kathryn into her first long ride ever, she was petrified on the downhills but so fit and strong that she flew up the uphills and had a great time. About 70km door to door for me, not that far, but a good start.

I'm excited about a winter of longer stuff with a bunch of really nice people, bring it on!

In other news Sarah and I rode out bikes to the Rocks tonight for Mother's Day dinner with the parents. Dinner was great, unfortunately I rode over an open safety pin within a block of home and just managed to make it to the Rocks on a rapidly deflating tyre! Walked it back over the bridge. Oh for dinner I had a cheeseless vege pizza (which sounds gross, but was actually not that different from a regular pizza and was delicious). Sarah grabbed spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and mushrooms which was also yummy. Vegan May is on fire!
