Big plans

Lazy this morning again! I’ve got to break this sleep-in cycle somehow. Last night I started putting together a plan with the Joe Friels “Triathlete’s Training Bible” to take me through the next 12 months. I’ve got a swag of events planned between now and next April and I need to get some sort of periodisation plan going in order to peak for my key races and make sure I don’t overtrain in between.

The first plan is to find a good sub-3 hour marathon training plan and follow it through to Sydney which is under 4 months away now. While also building up enough cycling kms in my legs to see me through the Bay in a Day 210km bike ride in October. Then:

December - Canberra Half Ironman
January - Audax 200km mountain ride
February - Huskisson Long Course Triathlon
March – 6 Foot Track Marathon
April – Ironman Australia
May – The North Face 100km run

Hmmm, that seems like a lot... Exciting though, they all look like fun!

Now hopefully once I've got the year all planned out into training cycles and then further broken down into weekly training sessions I'll have a schedule in front of me and once that's staring me in the face, I know I'll keep to it.

Adios lazy sleep-in Mike and hello fired up uber-training Mike!

Mike,

Those 6 races and lazy should not be in the same blog entry - wow. So you have committed to Ironman huh? Good on ya. Some hard work coming up for you. Will the Frenchman did a lot of those races this year. Maybe he can give you some advice whether it was too much. I know he was underdone for the 100k.

Some serious goals there Mike - I think I'm going to enjoy following your progress as they are all achievable for you

Cheers

Thanks for the support boys!

Yep the ironman is ON! We're thinking of trying for kids next year so not sure I'll have the time to devote for training the year after...

Good call Hamburglar I will get in touch with Will, I've met him before.
