Phew it was an extremely tough HuRTS session this lunchtime, one of the toughest I’ve done in a while.
45 minutes of fartlek (1 min on, 30 seconds recovery) from the stone pillars near St Marys to Hickson Road and back along the waterfront. It’s just so long and gruelling and the 30 second rest periods seem to get shorter and shorter...
I ran with Greg, Inhisshadow and Bill and I think all four of us were having a tough time and wanted to quit at points. Shortly before halfway shadow suggested we take turns leading and that certainly helped. At about the 38 minute mark we decided to walk the recovery for the last few and even though we were all suffering, we managed to stick together, hold a decent pace on the effort and finish strongly.
According to Greg’s garmin we did about 11km and our average pace during the “on” periods was around 3:45min/kms (deviating between 3:30 and 4:00) my average HR for the entire session was 161. I was suffering during the session but I feel great now!

One of the toughest sessions I have ever done - it was a great run though. Not sure about Hickson Rd Thursday though
Oh yeah - and on other thin. Based on the way you went through that session I reckon I am 4 or 5 minutes off the mark with the prediction for Sunday, bring on the Sub 80 mate, you should give that a real shake
