Saturday endurance brick

Wow i am knackered this arvo, what a glorious day though!

Only two takers for this morning's ride - myself and James. Such softness by so many people.

It was an absolute cracker of a morning, sunny and clear and chilly but not freezing - perfect riding weather. We met at Le Spit and went straight up Pittwater Road, McCarrs Creek road and then towards West Head. A couple of kms on the road to WH, James did some mental calculations about when he needed to be back home and asked if it was ok if we didn't go all the way to the end. My legs were finding it hard to turn the cranks and really feeling it, so I was happy to call it about 3km into the 12km stretch and turn around.

While it was a really fun ride, it was painful and I found myself constantly staring down at the cogs in disbelief that I had none left and still the cranks were so hard to spin! At North Sydney I decided to ride back part of the way with James (he rode from Hunters Hill) and got to the River Road turnoff at Lane Cove before deciding it was time to head back. Boy that hill up to Greenwich road was a steep little sucker! I was a few kms shy of 100km so I turned for a lap of Balls Head before home to get me up to the magic number.

When I got home Sarah was off at the gym so I threw on the runners and hat and headed out again. I REALLY didn't want to, I felt hammered, but I made myself and I was glad I did because as I got going the run became easier and more enjoyable. I went round Balls Head again and then a loop of the Berry Island bush track and back in 50 minutes with plenty of hills. That is such a glorious run through the bush on a sunny morning with Berrys Bay sparkling and it did start to feel really good. I wasn't even tired when I got home, although I ate like a champion and then the lassitude kicked in.

Sarah and I both went for a solid power nap, snuggled together in the sun with both cats curled up on us. Does it get any better than this?

Thanks for the offer this morning Mike. I had lots of home stuff to do and didn't get out at all. I look forward to a West Head ride soon.

Cheers!
