The Veganator

Have I mentioned before here that I've been vegan since August? Yep I decided that for me personally, it had to be done. My reasons for not eating meat had changed and morphed over the years to the point where a large part of it has become about reducing unneccessary suffering. And the more I've learned about the egg and dairy industry, the harder it's been to keep eating that stuff. Especially since I've realised that it's not so hard to do without them - this has been a major stepping stone for me. As a dedicated long term cheese addict, I would have said there is no single food which brings me greater pleasure than the humble cheese, in all its myriad delicious forms. I would NEVER have even considered that it was something I could possible give up and still live a semi-normal life.

However since I did the one month trial of veganism in May, I realised that it's actually not that hard and I don't miss it that much. And the more distance you get from it, the easier it is to get perspective and realise that it's just solidified fat. Damn cows milk is the secretion of another species of mammal, designed to promote massive rapid weight gain in infants. Probably not the best thing to be eating with every meal. But fat does taste good... It doesn't take much trained of your taste buds to not miss it and in fact be kind of grossed out by it.

Ever stop drinking full cream milk and go to skim or no fat? At first it tastes all watery and then after a while you get used to it. Then one day you have some full milk and it just tastes like thick goopy cream, ewww! It's easy for the taste buds to change what they crave.

Anyway I tried my first VEGAN BAKING for the party last night:
Choc chip cookies with crushed peanuts

Banana bread with dates

Pecan and Chocolate Rum Pie

YUM!

What if I tempted you with a sliver of Saint Agur, or this piece of Roquefort. Or just a little taste of Brie De Meux!

Mate you have more control than I to take the admirable step you have. Anyway how goes the recovery?
