Endorphin buzz

Hoo, good day today!

Went out with the Boundary Riders again this morning and today I think they did a real ride with their normal pace. Gorgeous sunny morning and about 14 or 15 riders. It totally blew me away - twice I was dropped.

Actually almost three times, I was way at the back coming up the hill after Roseville Bridge. Then they did a paceline coming along the flat between Warringah Mall and Manly on Pittwater Road and I took one turn then was dropped like a sack of sh*t! I got caught at the next lights and a couple of lovely guys came back and paced me back to the group which was so damn nice.

Then finally coming home along Military Road I just couldn't keep up with the pace. Caught them again at North Sydney oval at the lights.

But rather than feeling bad about it I felt incredibly positive! I need to get better, I know my cycling needs work and if I can stick with riding with that bunch I know I will get better very quickly. So that's my plan, try to do as many of those rides as possible in a group which is a level above me so will push me to keep up. I'm excited!!!

Then went to Pain in the Domain and flogged myself running fartlek at lunchtime. Again with group 1 so I was struggling to keep up in all the sprints, but it felt fantastic. And I've had this crazy buzz all day of energy and happiness. I think it's all about a good sleep, a rest day yesterday and pushing my boundaries today.

On a more philosphical level I'm really happy that with both the ride and run today I was able to go out chasing people better than me and never once feel disappointed in myself or down on me, but the exact opposite. Just happy and excited that I am being pushed beyond my limits and looking forward to doing it more often!
