SATURDAY
Did the Balmoral Tri club brick session which was a 20km bike time trial, followed by a 6 km run.
To be honest I wasn't happy with my TT performance, I just couldn't seem to push as hard as I needed to. It was mainly mental, I knew I could go faster but couldn't seem to tell my body to push any harder (it wasn't like I was maxing HR or anything, far from it). Anyway I think I did a slower time than my last two TTs last year - and that's on the back of a year's worth of much more bike training (although to be fair it's all been long slow stuff rather than speed work).
Anyway no big deal, the run afterwards felt good, then I rode home.
Awesome day - picnic at Balmoral with friends, hung out with Dan and Juliet, dropped in on Mum, then went to the Killers concert at night.
SUNDAY
After 5 hours sleep I fired up and jumped on the bike with James and Mark for a 100km bike ride out to La Perouse, then Kurnell and back home. All flat, setting a really good pace and feeling a bit buggered after 60km, but then incredibly strong at a fast pace coming back which I was really happy with. In fact I hadn't expected to go nearly that far, but by the end I felt that it was one of the best long rides I've been on in terms of how good I felt all the way through.
Then after a nap spent a glorious Sunday arvo lazing around North Sydney pool with Sarah (and swimming 3km). The perfect weekend!
MONDAY
Got up at 5am to go to yoga... then thought sleep might be better for me so ended up doing 2 hours on the couch! Tried to go for a swim at lunchtime but I felt rubbish - slow, couldn't keep any form, just completely uncomfortable. Struggled through 1.7km then called it. It was wasn't my day, but it was nice to get wet!
