Yay hills!

It's been a solid week so far, no swimming though - eeek!

We've had guests from Canada staying with us this week so the bedtimes haven't been ideal, but we've been out for a few nice meals. Even so I've been happy to be getting up at 5am for the last 4 days without feeling too tired. In fact I've been feeling SO much better than early last week it's ridiculous. Maybe because of an easier weekend?

Tuesday
Boundary Riders and it was a huge group. For the first time I actually managed to complete a round of the pace line and then stick with the group all the way along that road without being dropped. That's huge for me!

Then some long intervals at lunch with the running group. 3 x 10minutes (3 minute recovery). A very difficult session for me, especially the last interval which I did incredibly slowly. I can't believe how those guys are able to maintain such a fast pace for all three intervals, even right up to the end.

But I did say to myself that I need to get in (a) some longer intervals and (b) some hill work, so this week has worked out nicely.

Wednesday
A really nice yoga class, it felt great this morning. I had planned a lunchtime swim but I was out of the office most of the day at meetings and I had too much to do to get away. I was bummed but can't do much about it. Guess it was an enforced rest day.

Thursday
Today has been a good hard training day. Boundary riders again and it was an absolute downpour so everyone took things a lot easier and slower than usual. Still I was glad to get a solid ride in, if it had been raining before I left the apartment I wouldn't have gone out at all.

At lunchtime the email went around that it would be Hill Repeats with the boys. I can't believe I was actually excited by the prospect! I am sick. Anyway a small group of about 8 of us did 15 hill repeats in the gardens over half an hour. It seemed like it would be tough on the first couple of reps, but I was really surprised that I managed to maintain a very consistent pace throughout (and even speed up after the first couple) and still felt good at the end. I didn't time the first 2, but the splits after that were:
53.3
53.6
53.0
52.9
51.6
52.2
52.1
51.3
52.0
52.7
52.2
52.5
51.3

HR average 153, max 177.

Ok so one and a half weeks til Huskisson. Aaaaargh!!! Not nearly enough long riding in my opinion, but plenty of short faster stuff so hopefully that'll carry me though. I'm actually excited!

Some solid sessions there Mike. I will have to keep an eye out for you on those sessions with the greyhounds Tuesday/Thursday.
