Hard West Head 100km

Saturday’s ride was a tough one. We didn’t have many starters, just Dave, Andrew and myself with James screwing up his Blackberry alarm again and only waking up when I texted him saying “Where are you?” He hopped in the car and drove up to meet us at Church Point where, with a fresh set of legs, he set a cracking pace.

We went out fast to West Head and stopped at the end for a bite to eat, then coming back we were ruined! Andrew and I were really struggling to keep up with James and Dave, although Dave told us later that he was just being a competitive bugger and trying hard not to let James get away!

We reversed direction and came right back along Pittwater Road. Saw Hamburglar on the West Head road going the other way. The weather was absolutely glorious, clear and sunny, but we were really feeling the pinch going home and basically limped back to Mosman for a coffee. I freewheeled from there home for exactly 100km for the day.

Strapped on the shoes reluctantly and headed out for a 40 minute slog around Balls Head and back. It wasn’t an easy run, but it was good to get the legs moving in a different way.

That night involved hosting a dinner party for Sarah’s fellow teachers and their partners, so it was a fairly late one with a little too much red wine. This meant the alarm at 6am was a little rude...
