A bit of an average workout day today, not one of my best. I went to Govindas for dinner last night and watched “Lars and the Real Girl”. Great movie and even better food – highly recommended! Anyway I was a bit knackered this morning, but no problem getting up for the Boundary ride (I’ve been getting up at 5am fairly easily lately, I go through stages) and when I got there it was a cast of thousands! From being down to 5 or 6 riders the last fortnight it was a bit of a shock, but off we went and I handled the Roseville hill alright, not fantastic but not too bad. Stuck with the group no problem but then on the paceline – DROPPED. Early too, and I had to push really hard to catch back up to the group, which I didn’t manage until Sydney road. The rest of the ride was no prob and off I went to work.
I was in a meeting with my new boss learning some fascinating things about this industry and the way the company works and we got chatting so we ran much longer than I thought and completely missed the HuRTS session. This was a bit of a bugger, but I went out by myself anyway at 2pm and did the Mona Fartlek session. It’s not nearly the same solo, much harder to push yourself and I certainly took it much easier than I would have with the group. I only made it to the bottom of the little steep rise up to the Art Gallery by the turnaround time, so a bit of a shocker. Ah well, at least I got out there!
