Kept up with the pace line!

Oh boy I am knackered.

I need to talk about the Mini-mos on Sunday, will type that up soon. Took Monday off altogether as it was the first day of my new job so I prepared myself mentally and took the train to work until I sussed out the shower situation etc.

Ok quickly let's talk today before I crash. Got up and out for Boundary Riders this morning and damn I was glad I did becasue it was a really good ride. I managed to stay about middle of the pack coming up Roseville hill, where the hell did that come from? Then was second in the pack out of there and kept in the second row (of about 12 people) the whole way to Pittwater Road DY, where the front guys peeled off and I went into the lead with another bloke for that stretch until the paceline.

I kept up with the paceline! The first time ever!!! I started the thing off, then took 3 turns and stayed right with the group until the lights at Bike Addiction when we caught the red - and I was back to the front of the group again! LEd from there to the lights at Sydney Road when we gave up the lead. Wow I never would have expected it. Got chatting with a guy at hte back and got dropped on Military Road, but only because I wasn't paying attention and I managed to pick the group up pretty soon. I couldn't believe it, best Boundary ride ever!

Lunch was the HuRTS 14 x 3min session and I was determined to do all 14. I started off slowwe than I knew I could do in order to try and keep it together for the full session. It's almost an hour all up and feels like a long and tough session. Mentally very good for me.

Mark, who I've been barely managing to keep up with on previous sessions was on fire today and I couldn't get anywhere near him. I figured he was doing less reps and giving it more and I held back (but I don't think I would have got near him even if I'd been pushing it). The first 10 reps or so were pretty consistent, I was plugging in similar distances and feeling good about it. However I started to slow on 11 and 12 and lost some pace. I managed to knock over 13 and 14, but both those reps felt like I was running on the spot and I dropped way more pace. I got there though and was happy with the session. Ran to work and back, so it was a solid day.

55mins
HR average 165, HR max 181

Hey Mike - Just found your blog after all this time. Du'h.

Do you know a girl called Imogen that might ride with your group sometimes. Rides a greenish Bianci bike? She works near me.

Foot is still dogdy. Trying to get some running in, but not going well.

Hope to get out next week again.
