This morning my legs were sore and I wasn’t that keen to ride hard, but I did want to get back out on the bike and I got out there for another Boundary Ride. Still a small field, only 6 of us, and my legs were definitely feeling it. I struggled to keep up a few times and had tough times on the hills too. However the paceline wasn’t too bad, I managed two turns at least before dropping away and I didn’t end up too far behind the pack and caught up quickly. I was very happy afterwards to have knocked two sessions over this week!
Then it was Hickson Road HuRTS session at lunch. A beautiful warm, sunny clear lunchtime and a painful run of 5 x 1.2km reps. Unfortunately I was stuck in a never-ending meeting and had to hotfoot it down there which means I missed the first rep. I tried to run out hard from the finish and turn around when I caught sight of the pack running towards me, but it was a soft effort and I certainly wouldn’t class it as a rep. So it was 4 for me, what can I say they felt tough as usual, although funnily enough not as tough as I had expected considering how sore my legs feel. God knows how I would have gone on a fifth rep, but I have to make sure I get to this session in time next time it’s on because I really want to get stuck into all five – I only did 4 last time as well. At least the times were consistent.

This is interesting, a comparison of my last 3 Hickson Road efforts with today. There is a definite improvement there.
