Thurs 12 x 400m

I had the best HuRTS session I’ve had in a long time today. It was an absolutely glorious day, sunny but coolish with a bit of a breeze, perfect running weather. The session was 12 x 400m off 2 mins at Rushcutters Bay and I was a little apprehensive at how I’d go after the ride this morning.

First rep I took it a bit easy to warm up and went around in 1:23. Then I felt like pushing it a bit and took the next few at 1.19 or 1.20. Funnily enough they weren’t hurting too badly and I was feeling strong the whole way round as the reps continued, even throwing in some accelerations halfway through to pass people. At 6 reps we started running around the oval in the opposite direction and I was sure I’d fade, but funnily enough I continued to feel good and post even reps of 1.19 or 1.18. The last one was painful, but I was flabbergasted to get round it in 1.17, the fastest rep of the day!

It’s certainly nice to be able to make the whole session with consistent times, I remember really fading and falling off on the last few, only a few months ago. This has definitely been one of the best training days I’ve had in ages and my body feels terrific.

Don’t mention swimming though… Steve asked me on the jog back from Rushcutters how my swimming was going. Swimming? What is that???

Mate, You are in inspirational form at the moment, I reckon your are tracking for a low 50s C2S the way you are tracking - that veg lifestyle is really paying dividends!

You've got your frankinscence, I've got my lentils! Whatever the reason the running has been getting better and better lately which I'm bloody happy with. Mate you need to stop saving everything up for the Corporate Cup and get back to Hurts!

You're probably right, but my problem is I am too competitive. That said I did get back last week, will do both next week also
