Bust a move

I’ve been gently reintroducing myself to exercise and trying to find things I can do to keep fit which are still pain free. Thankfully bike riding is becoming one of those. I’ve been riding my big heavy clunker of a mountain bike to work for the last few days and it hasn’t seemed to exacerbate the pain so I’ve kept at it. It’s only a 15 minute ride so no great shakes, but it’s a start.

Then yesterday I thought ok I’m ready to FINALLY get my heart rate up again and do some decent exercise, I’m going to try and do the Boundary Riders morning ride of 40km. I was still nervous about my sacro-iliac / glute injury and unused to getting up at 5am, but I got out there onto the freezing road and gave it a shot. Amazingly the ride went great, I even kept with the leaders for halfway of the Roseville Bridge hill which I’ve never done before. I felt strong for almost the whole ride, faded a bit at the very end coming back along Military Road but I didn’t care by then, of course I’m not going to have much endurance in my legs after over 6 weeks off the bike!

But I was riding along at one point singing “Bust a Move” in my head, and I thought of the following point. Consider the lines:

“Your best friend Harry has a brother LarryIn five days from now he's gonna marryHe's hoping you can make it there if you can'Cause in the ceremony you'll be the best man”

Now why doesn’t Larry ask his brother Harry to be his best man? If not, then surely Larry has some mates of his own? I mean it’s not like Larry is your friend, you said it yourself, he’s just your best mate’s brother. What kind of a loner is Larry who has no friends? And he’s disorganised, only giving you 5 days notice, that’s harsh. He’s got to have known he was getting married for some time, what he never thought about asking you before now?

I ran to work yesterday and as I crossed Sydney road (near spit turn off) I nearly got bowled over by the boundary riders. Shame I didn't see you.
