Doing some riding

Damn I've had SO much to write, but I just haven't been on a good habit of posting something every day so then days, weeks, months go by and there's just too much to say AAAAARRRRGH!

In the spirit of starting somewhere here's a quick post before I got to bed. What's good for me in training lately?

I'm riding HEAPS. Way more than when I was running and the interesting thing is that my riding is so much easier when my legs aren't completely beaten-up from 80 to 100km of hard or long running in the week. Duh! But it is a nice surprise. I'm just loving the riding so much that I'm not even missing the running. Well, I do get extremely jealous when I see runners, but apart from that I'm good.

Point is that I rode about 350km last week, about 380km the week before. For someone who's never broken 200kms a week in his life that's pretty cool. I've signed up to Round the Bay (a 210km ride around Port Philip Bay in Victoria) in about 2 weeks time. Then I'm doing Sydney to the Gong (and back probably) in November. Finally I've signed up for the Audax Alpine Challenge in January, 200km of pure mountainous pain climbing all day in the Victorian Alps. Is it perverse than all these things excite me?

Looks like I'll need a new bike though if I'm going to be doing all that. I love my old aluminum Felt F75 but it is heavy and old with average components. I've got my name down for the new 2009 Giant TCR Advanced 1. Carbon composite frame, Ultegra SL everything. Check it:

Comes in in 3 weeks time, so I won't get to ride it for Round the Bay but hopefully the week after. Courtesy of a hefty tax refund and the fact that Sarah's booked a 3 week trip to Thailand in January with her mum. So surely I deserve something?

I too am waiting for my 2009 TCR Advanced 1 (USA model comes with SRAM Force). Do you know of a review the 2009 TCR Advanced bikes? Mine will arrive in just over a week from now.

I don't know of any review, but all the guys I've spoken to at bike shops about them seem pretty stoked. Three bike shop employees at different stores I've spoken to have said they are getting one themselves and can't wait for them to arrive, so I figure that's a pretty good plug.

I got my bike. It is light and stiff, and it handles great in corners at high speed. The top and bottom tubes are massive in size. The head tube is super reinforced for secure handling. The Fizik saddle is more comfortable than I expected. I was riding with Specialized Toupe saddles on my other bikes. The Ksyrium Elite wheels are nice, though not super light. Certainly this bike would be incredibly light with a set of Zipp 303's. The SRAM Force groupset shifts very nicely. I got SRAM Force and Rival in my other two road bikes. This year's Force has the trim on the big ring, which is nice for racing, where one may never get off the big ring, though one looses a couple of hard gears on the small ring. Also the Dura Ace internal press fit BB seems very smooth. I am so glad I got this bike.
